Assam: The NEET UG counseling to begin soon in Assam. The Director of Medical Education (DME) conducts the counseling process, established in 1984 under the control of the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Assam.

Admission to various medical colleges for MBBS courses is based on the NEET UG entrance exam. National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the entrance exam once a year. The candidates who qualify for the exam are only eligible for the counseling process. It comprises 3 rounds (round 1, round 2, and mop-up round). If seats are not filled in the 1st three rounds, a stray vacancy round is conducted, which is a college-level round.

All the important processes in the counseling, such as counseling registration, choice-filling, locking, issue of the provisional and final results, and document uploading, will be carried out online.

The seats are allocated based on the NEET scorecard, choices filled, reservation criteria, and seats available. The candidates who qualify for NEET and fulfil other eligibility conditions are only eligible for the counseling process.
