MCh Neurosurgery seats increased at AIIMS Patna for INI SS January 2027 session
New Delhi- The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has revised the seat positions for the Institute of National Importance Super Speciality Entrance Test (INI-SS) for the January 2027 session, increasing the number of General category seats in MCh Neurosurgery at AIIMS Patna.
The update has been issued through an addendum by AIIMS New Delhi, in continuation of the INI-SS Prospectus Part-A for admission to DM and MCh courses for the January 2027 session.
According to the addendum, the revision has been made following a communication received from AIIMS Patna.
Under the revised seat position, MCh Neurosurgery at AIIMS Patna will now have 3 General category seats, compared with 2 seats earlier. There is no change in the Sponsored or Foreign National categories, with both continuing to have zero seats.

AIIMS has further informed candidates that the number of seats may be increased or decreased at any stage depending on subsequent communications or approvals received from the respective institutes. Candidates have therefore been advised to fill their choices and preferences accordingly.
All other provisions of the INI-SS January 2027 Prospectus will remain unchanged. Candidates have also been advised to regularly check the AIIMS examination website for guidelines, seat updates, eligibility criteria and any subsequent corrigenda, addenda or updates.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that AIIMS New Delhi had issued an addendum revising the seat position for the INI SS January for the 2027 session and modifying the method for resolving ties in the entrance examination.
Under the earlier provision, candidates securing equal marks were ranked sequentially on the basis of fewer negative marks, higher marks in the qualifying examination, and then age, with the older candidate getting preference.
Under the revised rule, the qualifying examination marks criterion has been removed. Ties will now be resolved first by fewer negative marks, then by date of birth, with preference given to the older candidate. All other provisions of the INI-SS January 2027 Prospectus will remain unchanged.
