NEET 2024 Registrations Likely To Commence From January next year
Delhi: The NEET UG registration process will likely commence in January 2024. The detailed prospectus and application form will be available on the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The NEET UG cut-off marks are released after the declaration of the results. Candidates who are willing to participate in the NEET UG 2024 can refer to the NEET UG 2023 cut-off scores for a brief idea.
In 2023, the NEET UG cutoff for the general category was 50th percentile, for the SC/ST/OBC category was 40th percentile, for the general/EWS/PH category was 45th percentile, and for SS/ST/OBC was 40th percentile.
The National Testing Agency is responsible for declaring the cut-off scores. The cut-off score is the minimum mark necessary for a candidate to secure qualification in the medical entrance test. The cut-off marks vary each year; however, the qualifying percentile remains constant, as stated by the National Testing Agency.
Meanwhile, based on the inputs given by the National Medical Commission (NMC) regarding the NEET UG 2024 syllabus, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is soon going to notify a rationalised syllabus next week for the entrance test.
NEET UG is an offline, pen-and-paper-based examination that is conducted annually by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The exam comprises of a single-question paper with 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) covering Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). The exam lasts 3 hours and 20 minutes and is held in various languages, making it accessible to many students. NEET UG is held for admissions to various medical courses like MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, and BHMS.
This is one of the largest entrance tests in the world as well. Only this year, a huge number of 20.87 lakh candidates registered for the test. Earlier, releasing the examination calendar for the academic year 2024-2025, NTA announced that the NEET UG 2024 exam is going to be held on May 05, 2024.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that providing clarity to lakhs of aspirants who are preparing to appear in the centralized MBBS entrance examination, the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of NMC recently finalised and released the syllabus for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) examination-2024.
The Commission released the syllabus after a plea was filed before the Delhi High Court bench seeking a direction to the concerned authorities to provide the syllabus for NEET-UG 2024 and also to update the same on the website.
As per the syllabus, which has now been published on the NMC website, the questions from Physics will come from 20 Units including Physics and Measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy and Power, Rotational Motion, Gravitation, Properties of Solids and Liquids, Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Oscillations and Waves, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction, and Alternating Currents, Electromagnetic Waves, Optics, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Atoms and Nuclei, Electronic Devices, Experimental Skills,
The syllabus of Chemistry has been divided into three parts - Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry. There are a total number of 20 Units covering these three parts of Chemistry Syllabus. The Units covering Physical Chemistry include- Some basic concepts in Chemistry, Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, Chemical Thermodynamics, Solutions, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions and Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics.
The Units covering the syllabus of Inorganic Chemistry Include- Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, p- Block Elements, d- and f- Block Elements, Co-Ordination Compounds. Apart from these, the syllabus of Organic Chemistry has been covered in the Units including Purification and Characterisation of Organic Compounds, Some basic principles of Organic Chemistry, Hydrocarbons, Organic Compounds Containing Halogens, Organic Compounds Containing Oxygen, Organic Compounds Containing Nitrogen, Biomolecules, and Principles Related to Practical Chemistry.
In respect of the Biology Syllabus, there are a total number of 10 Units that cover topics including- Diversity in Living World, Structural Organisation in Animals and Plants, Cell Structure and Function, Plant Physiology, Human Physiology, Reproduction, Genetics and Evolution, Biology and Human Welfare, Biotechnology and its Application, and Ecology and Environment.
