New Delhi: Ending the anticipation of the commencement date for NEET PG Counselling 2021, the Union Health Minister has recently stated that the counselling process by MCC will be starting from January 12th 2022.

The confirmation to this effect was shared by Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya via a tweet. "NEET-PG counselling is being started by MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) from January 12, 2022, following the order of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, as assured by the Ministry of Health to the resident doctors. This will give more strength to the country in the fight against Corona. My best wishes to all the candidates," the minister had tweeted in Hindi.

Recently, with the Supreme Court verdict finally being announced clearing the way for the NEET AIQ admission process, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) specified the overall reservation policy for candidates while declaring that NEET and NEET PG counselling schedules will be released soon.

The MCC conducts NEET and NEET PG counselling for All India Quota seats: 15 per cent for MBBS and BDS seats and 50 per cent for PG Medical seats.

As per the Supreme Court order, there will be 27 per cent reservation in MBBS and PG medical seats of the all India quota. For the EWS quota, 10 per cent existing reservation has been permitted for this year, so that the counselling process can take place, whereas, for the upcoming years, the criteria of the quota will be decided in the next hearing scheduled for March 2022.

Medical Dialogues had reported about the delay in NEET PG counselling which has kept the admission process in limbo. The case was originally slated for hearing on January 6. However, resident doctors have been protesting in Delhi seeking an early hearing, since the NEET PG counselling has been put on hold due to the pending matter. When the matter finally came up before the bench, the Supreme Court had passed an interim order with certain directions after the 2-day consecutive hearing.
