6 medicos of Sonepat's Medical College expelled for ragging juniors, students protest denying allegations
Rohtak: Acting on a recent ragging complaint by a few first-year female medical students, the authorities of Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College for Women in Khanpur Kalan, Sonepat, expelled six senior students. However, the decision sparked outrage and protests from other seniors, who denied the allegations and claimed that the action was taken without a proper investigation.
According to media reports, the first-year MBBS students of the 2024 batch reportedly submitted chat screenshots with senior students as evidence in their complaint to the college management. However, the senior students have argued that such interactions are not considered ragging.

The controversy erupted after the first-year students lodged a complaint against the senior students accusing them of indulging in ragging. After receiving the complaint, the college administration expelled the seniors and formed a committee to investigate the matter.
However, the decision faced backlash from other senior students, who claimed that the administration had rushed to judgment and punished them without conducting a fair and impartial investigation. For this, the seniors organised protests on the college campus supporting the expelled students and voicing their grievances against the administration.
In response to the student's protest, the administration called a meeting between the two parties on Thursday afternoon to resolve the matter peacefully.
BPS Medical College medical superintendent Dr Dheeraj told Amar Ujala, "Ragging will not be tolerated in the college under any circumstances, and strict action will be taken against the students involved in such incidents.
A senior student, who wished not to be named told HT "We had just welcomed the freshers and gave some directions. The MBBS students of 2024 batch had shared the screenshot of the chat with senior students with college authorities and Medical Council of India officials. Such things had occurred earlier also, and do not come under ragging.”
