Bihar to set up medical colleges under PPP mode
Patna: Bihar Chief Minister has recently announced that medical colleges in the state will now be developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model through both greenfield and brownfield projects.
The announcement was made during a review meeting of the Health Department, where the Chief Minister emphasised the need to improve healthcare delivery at the grassroots level and reduce unnecessary patient referrals.
He directed officials to ensure quality treatment facilities are available locally and instructed that the new healthcare system be implemented in all district and sub-divisional hospitals by August 15, with District Magistrates assigned to regularly monitor progress.
According to a recent UNI report, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced that medical colleges in the state will be developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model through both greenfield and brownfield projects, aimed at strengthening medical education and healthcare services within the state.
While reviewing the progress of the Health Department, the Chief Minister emphasised improved healthcare delivery and directed officials to ensure quality treatment at the local level and minimize unnecessary patient referrals.
He instructed that the new system be implemented across all district and sub-divisional hospitals by August 15, with District Magistrates tasked with regular monitoring.

Choudhary also asked officials to expedite the completion of under-construction medical colleges and hospitals. Reiterating the government’s commitment, the Chief Minister said efforts are being continuously made to provide accessible, transparent, and modern healthcare services, particularly in rural areas.
During the review meeting, the health department secretary, Kumar Ravi, gave a detailed presentation on the current status of departmental works and future plans.
