Rewari: To boost medical education in Haryana, the Union Health Ministry has approved a total of 50 MBBS seats at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rewari, paving the way for the commencement of the 2026 academic session at the institute.

On this, Haryana Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao told Amar Ujala that the AIIMS is currently under construction in Rewari, and will prove to be a major milestone in the fields of the state's healthcare services and medical education.

The Health Minister also stated that the commencement of AIIMS Rewari will provide the people of South Haryana and surrounding regions with high-quality healthcare facilities, while also offering new opportunities to the youth in the field of medical education.

The Minister further stated that the Jind Medical College is nearing completion and is expected to be handed over this year. The medical college and hospital currently under construction at Kutail in the Karnal district is also in its final stages.

Once the Jind and Kutail medical colleges have been handed over, the admission process will commence upon receipt of the necessary approvals from the National Medical Commission (NMC), as reported by AmarUjala.

Meanwhile, construction work on medical colleges in Yamunanagar, Kaithal, and Sirsa is also progressing rapidly.

Additionally, Outpatient Department (OPD) services at AIIMS are expected to commence by July of this year.

Alongside healthcare services, efforts to promote green energy are also underway, under which plans to install solar power plants in all civil hospitals are being implemented. This will enable hospitals to generate their own electricity, reduce power costs, and also give impetus to environmental conservation.

Earlier this year, Medical Dialogues had reported that the upcoming AIIMS Rewari will feature a 750-bed hospital and an OPD facility capable of serving 1,500 patients daily. The campus will comprise a 100-seat medical college, 25 super-speciality departments, and a nursing college. Furthermore, facilities such as private wards, trauma beds, and

beds are also planned. A night shelter, guest house, 1,000-seat auditorium, hostels, and residential complexes will be constructed.
