SMS medical college final year MBBS student allegedly commits suicide
Jaipur: In an unfortunate incident, a 22-year-old final year MBBS student at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Medical College allegedly committed suicide after he was found hanging on the eighth floor of the New RD Hostel on the college campus.
While the exact reason behind the incident remains unclear, police are questioning the student’s friends and family members to ascertain the cause. The student reportedly had a Forensic Medicine examination scheduled on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the medical college principal said that the student had been living in rented accommodation outside the hostel premises. However, on Friday night, he entered the hostel building and allegedly took the extreme step.
The deceased was pursuing an MBBS and had been living in Jaipur for the past three years. He was a resident of Alwar.

The incident took place on Friday night when the student was studying with friends at the SK Menon Hostel. Around 2 am, he told his friends that he was returning to his rented flat.
However, during CCTV verification, police found that he entered the New RD Hostel at around 2:45 am. He was seen going to the seventh floor at around 2:51 am and remained visible in the hostel premises till 3:15 am. Police said there was no CCTV camera installed on the eighth floor, where the incident allegedly took place. He reportedly died by suicide around 3:35 am.
His body was discovered by a female security guard at around 5:30 am, following which the police were informed at 6:30 am.
Following this, the police reached the spot with the FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) team and brought down the body. After taking custody of the body, police launched an investigation. Additionally, a team from the FSL carried out the process of collecting evidence from the scene.
Speaking to Dainik Bhaskar, police said, "No suicide note was recovered from the spot. A smartphone and a laptop was inside his bag."
Nitin’s maternal uncle, Amrit, said, "He was in the third year of MBBS and had been preparing for his exam. He had not spoken to his family for the past two days because of studies. He was very intelligent and talented. He could not have taken such a step."
Dr Deepak Maheshwari, Principal of SMS Medical College, told ETV Bharat, "The college administration is deeply shocked by this event, as the student was academically brilliant. It was entirely unexpected that he would take such a drastic step."
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
