Dr NTR University Of Health Sciences Invites Applications For UG Student Research Scholarships 2022: MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, Nursing students can apply

Vijayawada: Dr NTR University of Health Sciences has invited applications for Under Graduate Student Research Scholarships-2022 (UGSRS) program under Research & Development Department. The students of MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, Nursing, and Physiotherapy of the respective affiliated colleges can apply before they appear in their final exams.

PG and intern students are not eligible for this program. The application and research proposal should be submitted along with the application attestation form as available on the university website www.ntruhs.ap.nic.in duly certified by the guide and head of the institution.

The last date for submission is 25th June 2022, 5:00 pm. The application should be sent to - To, The Director (Research & Development), Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, Gunadala, Vijayawada – 520008.

The application attestation form has to be filled in and submitted as per the detailed instructions provided on the university website. Only hard copies of the proposals shall be received or considered. The list of selected students to undertake UGSRS research work will be displayed on the website tentatively by 15th July 2022.

Under Graduate Student Research Scholarships program was started to promote interest and aptitude for research among undergraduates. The main objective of this program is to provide an opportunity for undergraduate students in institutions affiliated with Dr NTR UHS to familiarize themselves with research methodology.

475 students can register for the program in a year. For MBBS 250, BDS 100, AYUSH 25, NURSING 100, and Physiotherapy 25, students can apply. The eligible candidates will be awarded UGSRS after submitting their project report and after review/evaluation by the PhD committee of the university.

The students must carry out research in their own institutes under a guide employed in the same institute as a permanent faculty. The cost of research will be borne by the respective institution where the work will be carried out. Only one student will be allowed to work under one guide. Similarly, one guide can take up only one student under UGSRS in any given year.

Two or more students cannot work on the same topic together. The students can submit only one application/ proposal on any given topic. If they submit more than one proposal, all proposals will be automatically rejected.

The research proposal should be prepared in brief with the following sections:

1. Title - up to 25 words

2. Introduction - up to 300 words

3. Objectives - up to 100 words

4. Methodology - up to 800 words

5. Implications - up to 100 words

6. References - up to 300 words, Vancouver style only

The proposal should describe a brief work plan of the proposed research, giving a short introduction objective, and clearly stating the methodology, giving sample size and appropriate statistical methodology, which will be used along with implications of the research study. The students may include the case report form, informed consent form, or any other questionnaire as part of a project proposal or submit them as separate attachments.

Clinical trial protocols will not be considered under UGSRS and should not be submitted. Informed consent is to be obtained for research on human participants. Students can refer to ICMR Ethical Guidelines for Biomedical Research on Human Participants, 2017 and National Ethical Guidelines for Biomedical Research Involving Children for more information on human and animal participants.

If the proposal is accepted, Institutional Ethics Committee approval should be obtained from the institute where the students are enrolled before initiating research.

The students will be given Rs 5000 as a stipend each month for 2 months of the program, only if Dr NTRUHS approves their UGSRS report.

The selected students will have to complete the research project in 2 months (July and October). The students can submit the report along with the UGSRS application form on or before 30th November 2022 by 5:00 pm. The certificate will be given at the end only if Dr NTRUHS approves their UGSRS report.

Students note that the research projects that have already been considered and received grants from any other funding agencies or Dr NTRUHS will not be accepted for UGSRS – 2022.

The proposal/ project should not have any identifying information about the student or guide for unbiased review by reviewers.
