MBBS Examination

Hyderabad: Due to confusion and errors in the question paper, the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) has cancelled the Final MBBS General Surgery Paper I (regular) exam held on April 15 and rescheduled it to April 27.

The university said the decision was taken after observing a mismatch between the old syllabus and the revised curriculum introduced in line with National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines.

In a press note issued by the university, as reported by The Hindu, KNRUHS stated that certain topics previously included in General Surgery Paper-I have now been shifted to Paper-II under the new regulations.

As a result, some questions from the updated syllabus were mistakenly included in the Paper-I exam, which was meant to follow the old pattern.

This led to confusion among students and prompted multiple representations to the university.

Taking note of the concerns, KNRUHS decided to cancel the examination, stating that the decision was made to ensure fairness for all candidates.

The university has now rescheduled the General Surgery Paper-I exam to April 27.

Medical Dialogues had reported that the raising concerns over alleged fee-related harassment of medical students by two private medical colleges despite interim orders of the Telangana High Court, doctors in the State sought immediate intervention from the concerned university under which the colleges function.

In a formal complaint to the Registrar of Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), Warangal, the Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA) urged the university to ensure that the medical colleges comply with the court's directions. The association claimed that students who were allotted seats under the MQ1 category during Round-2 counselling and later joined CMR Institute of Medical Sciences and MNR Medical College and Hospital are facing problems with fee payments.
