NEET Admissions 2021: 630 MBBS, 240 BDS, 63 BAMS seats up for grabs in Puducherry

Puducherry: There are a total of 630 MBBS, 240 BDS and 63 BAMS seats available in Puducherry for NEET candidates this academic year.

The information to this effect comes from a letter directed to the Coordinator of the Centralized Admission Committee (CENTAC) wherein the Government of Puducherry has released the seat matrix for MBBS, BDS, and BAMS courses for the academic year 2021-2022.

The Secretary to Government (Health), A. Punithamary has individually provided the details for the available MBBS, BDS, and BAMS seats in Government and Self-Financing Institutes in Puducherry.

  • MBBS Seat Matrix:

As per the data released by the Under Secretary to Government (Health), A. Punithamary, there are a total number of 630 MBBS seats available for admission for the academic year 2021-2022. Among these 630 MBBS seats, 180 seats are in the Government-run Indira Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute (IGMCRI), Puducherry.

For the rest of the seats, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences, Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College & Hospital, and Sri Venkateshwaraa Medical College & Research Centre have an intake capacity of 150 MBBS seats each.

IGMCRI:

At Indira Gandhi Medical College, among the 180 MBBS seats 15% or 27 seats are reserved for the All India Quota students and 131 seats are reserved for the Government quota. A total number of 22 MBBS seats are reserved for NRI quota students.

Among the Government quota seats 4% seats i.e. 5 Seats are reserved in respect of Mahe Region.

PIMS & SMVMC&H:

In both Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College & Hospital (SMVMC&H) there are a total number of 150 MBBS seats each. Among them, 56 medical seats are reserved for the Government quota.

PIMS has a total number of 75 MBBS seats reserved for Christian Minority candidates of UT of Pondicherry only. Apart from these, there are 19 MBBS seats in NRI quota.

In case of SMVMC&H, 23 MBBS seats are for NRI quota and the rest of the 71 seats are other Management quota seats.

SVMCH&RC:

Sri Venkateshwara Medical College Hospital & Research Centre (SVMCH&RC) also has a total number of 150 MBBS seats. However, it has a total number of 54+4 MBBS seats in the Government quota.

The seat matrix as revealed by A. Punithamary reveals that "As per the Orders of Hon'ble High Court, Chennai dt: 13-08-2020, and the directions of the Board of Governors based on the said judgment, Sri Venkateshwaraa Medical College Hospital and Research Institute, Puducherry has to surrender equivalent number of MBBS seats to Government Quota for the next three academic years stating from 2020-21 for admission of 4 Nos. of students in 1st year MBBS Course.)

In the management quota seats, 75 MBBS seats are reserved in the Institute for Telugu Minority candidates of UT of Puducherry and 17 seats are for NRI quota students.

  • BDS Seat Matrix:

Under Secretary to Government (Health), A. Punithamary has revealed that there are a total number of 240 BDS seats available in Puducherry for admission for the academic year 2021-22.

Mahatma Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Dental Sciences:

Among these 240 BDS seats, 40 seats are available at the Government run Mahatma Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Dental Sciences. Among these 40 BDS seats, 15% i.e. 6 seats are reserved for the All India Quota students and 5 seats are reserved for the NRI quota students. So there are a total number of 29 BDS seats in the Government quota.

Among the Government quota seats 4% seats i.e. 1 seat is reserved in respect of Mahe Region.

Mahe Institute of Dental Sciences:

In the Mahe Institute of Dental Sciences, which is a Dental Institute run by Private management, there are a total number of 100 BDS seats and among them 35 seats are in the Government quota and 65 seats are reserved for the management quota.

Sri Venkateshwaraa Dental College:

Similarly, self-financing Sri Venkateshwaraa Dental College also has a total number of 100 BDS seats and among them 35 BDS seats are in Government quota. Among the rest of the 65 management quota seats, 50 BDS seats are in reserved for Telugu Minority candidates of UT of Puducherry.

  • BAMS Seat Matrix:

There are a total number of 63 BAMS seats available in the Rajiv Gandhi Ayurvedic Medical College, Mahe for the academic year 2021-22, revealed the data provided by Under Secretary of Health, A. Punithamary.

Among these, 15% seats i.e. 9 seats are reserved for the All India Quota students and 7 seats are reserved for NRI quota students. Apart from these, 1 seat is reserved for Malaysian quota.

So, there are a total number of 46 Government quota BAMS seats available for admission for the academic year 2021-22.
