2 doctors sexually assaulted, threatened at Hisar Medical College while returning to hostel
Hisar: While returning to their hostel after completing a 12-hour shift, two female junior resident doctors of Maharaja Agrasen Medical College were allegedly molested and threatened with death by three unidentified men in Agroha town in Hisar district.
This incident comes amid widespread protests and outrage following the alleged brutal rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
According to the police, the three men before allegedly molesting the doctors, engaged in stalking and made inappropriate comments towards them. As a result, the police have recently booked the men under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

As per the PTI news report, the incident took place on the evening of August 23 when the two were going to their hostel when three unidentified men passed some lewd comments at them near the emergency department. When the two doctors ignored the accused, the three men started following them.
"We tried to ignore them but they followed us. When we questioned them, they hurled abuses and threatened to kill us. Scared, we rushed to reach the hostel as soon as possible. The trio came back again and passed comments. When we alerted the guard, they escaped from the main gate of the campus," one of the victim informed TOI.
The doctors then informed the college authorities about the incident and after this, the police were immediately informed. One of the resident doctors filed a complaint against the trio following which a case was registered.
The official said CCTV footage collected from near the incident spot was not clear and police were scanning footage from other areas to nab the accused. “We have also questioned some people in the area for clues,” the official said, adding that the accused would be nabbed soon.
After this incident, resident doctors of the medical college have warned of agitation from Tuesday if the accused are not arrested soon, as per TOI news report. Other trainee women doctors expressed concern over security inside the hostel and college campuses. Expressing frustration, they have claimed that they don't feel safe although the central government gave assurances about security in the workplace.
Officials said the medical college administration and police have stepped up security at the hospital and hostel.
