A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread outrage within the medical community, with many questioning why a doctor would want to work in a government hospital if this is how they are treated after decades of service to the public.

In the viral video, the Shiv Sena worker is allegedly seen pouring the ink and smearing it on the doctor’s face with his hands, while his supporters stood by and watched.
Shortly after the incident, the doctor filed a complaint against the accused and his seven associates. Based on the complaint, the police registered an FIR and arrested the accused and others.
Speaking to the media, the doctor said, “I don’t have any personal enmity with him. If he had any complaints about the hospital’s services, he should have raised them officially instead of humiliating me like this. This is wrong.”
When asked if doctors would still want to work at government hospitals after such incidents, he replied, “I don’t think any doctor would like to work in a government hospital after this kind of humiliation. I have already applied for voluntary retirement (VRS) twice, but the government rejected my request. I’m already 64 years old.”
The incident has sparked strong condemnation from doctors across the country, who called it 'shameful', 'humiliating' and 'unacceptable'. Taking the matter to social media, several doctors expressed their anger.
“A doctor who has spent his entire life serving patients in a government hospital, saving lives, working tirelessly day and night, often without rest or resources, gets harassed by a local neta and his gang of 7–8 goons? Is this how India treats its doctors? Those who dedicate their lives to public service are being intimidated by political thugs while the system watches silently?" wrote one doctor on X (formerly Twitter).
He added, “This is exactly why good doctors avoid government jobs, because instead of respect and safety, they face threats and humiliation. The government must take strict action against such hooligans. Doctors are not your slaves.”
Another doctor posted, "Imagine devoting 30 to 40 years of your life to public service and still being humiliated like this. A senior doctor, serving till retirement age, can be targeted and shamed by anyone who claims to be linked to some political ideology. And it does not end at humiliation. They are openly threatening other doctors too, without fear, as you can see in the video."
