DMER directs Doctors, Staff of all institutes to Maintain Dress Code, warns of strict action against Violators

This direction has been given to all the doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, and other staff of all the government and private medical institutes, dental, nursing, and paramedical institutes within Haryana and they have been warned of strict action for violating the dress code, adds Tribune India.

Such an instruction on the part of the State Health authorities has come after several complaints of medical staff not following the dress code was lodged.

For doctors, the dress code is Apron, while the nurses and other medical staff need to wear separate uniforms.

As per the latest media report by the Tribune India, alleging that several of the medical staff have been noticed wearing casual wears like jeans and t-shirts, the authorities have warned of taking strict action against those violating the dress code.

Meanwhile, while commenting on the matter, Dr. RB Jain, senior Professor at Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences and president of the Haryana State Medical Teachers Association, said that even though he was not against the dress code but was concerned that issuing instructions to the University of Health Sciences (UHS) was an attack on its autonomy.

"The UHS authorities have not yet issued any direction in this regard. We will oppose if not allowed to wear jeans and T-shirt as except apron nothing else is included in the dress code for doctors," another doctor told the daily.

However, according to a senior officer, the dress code was already there, and fresh instructions were issued to ensure that the instructions were being followed.
