Hyderabad: Frowning upon the continuation of Dr Ramesh Reddy, who had been employed on ad-hoc basis, in the charge of Director of medical Education, the Telangana HIgh Court recently issued notice to the State Medical Education Department.

The HC bench comprising of Justice K Lakshman has listed the matter for further hearing after two weeks, reports Telangana Today.

Notice was issued by the court after Dr. Narender Kumar, who came before Dr. Reddy in the seniority list for the post of Additional Director, approached the High Court and complained about the long continuation of Dr. Reddy in the office.

Back in 2017 Dr. Ramesh Reddy had been employed on an ad hoc basis as there was no seniority list of professors.

However, the court interfered and due to the Court's decision a final seniority list had been prepared back in 2021. On the basis of the list, the promotions had been issued for the post of Additional Directors.

It was the submission of Dr. Narender Kumar that he was at No.2 of the concerned list, whereas Dr. Ramesh Reddy was at No.10. At this outset, the petitioner Dr. Kumar also informed the Court about the next post, which was that of the Director of Medical Education Principles of Medical Colleges and Superintendent of Teaching General Hospitals.

As per the latest media report by Telangana Today, it was the grievance of the petitioner that even though Dr Ramesh Reddy did not come even within the zone of consideration, he was being continued in the post. Alleging that this was contradicting the Rules and Medical Guidelines, the petitioner, Dr. Kumar approached the High Court bench.

Issuing notice to the State DME, the bench has decided to continue hearing the matter after two weeks.
