Rohtak: A shocking incident of violence against doctors has surfaced at the Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) Trauma Centre in Rohtak, where on-duty doctors were allegedly manhandled by a group of 15 to 20 attendants of an injured patient.

According to a post shared on 'X' (formerly Twitter) by a doctor, a youth who had been injured was brought to the hospital for treatment. However, instead of cooperating, a group of around 15–20 attendants stormed into the Trauma Centre.

The attendants reportedly argued with the doctors, pushed them, and vandalised the treatment area. Medical supplies kept on the doctor’s table were thrown around during the chaos. The situation became so unsafe that the doctors had to leave the treatment area and call the police for help.

The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of doctors, who continue to face such violence while trying to do their jobs and care for patients..

The doctor who shared the matter on 'X' questioned, "What exactly are doctors supposed to do? Are they supposed to treat patients or fight angry attendants? Are they supposed to save lives or save themselves? Why are hospitals turning into a crime scene? Why do attendants feel entitled to assault doctors and walk away? Why is there zero fear of law?"

For years, doctors have been demanding better security in government hospitals and strict laws to act against those who attack healthcare workers. However, the government have not been able to fulfil their demands yet.

Medical Dialogues had previously reported that just 10 days after a female on-duty doctor at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital was assaulted by a patient’s attendant, another shocking incident of violence took place at the same hospital, where doctors and security personnel were allegedly attacked by patients’ attendants. Along with attacking the doctors, the attendants also damaged hospital property, reportedly leaving resident doctors traumatised.
