Kanpur: In a tragic incident, a 21-year-old nurse was found dead inside the bathroom of a private hospital in Kanpur’s Lajpat Nagar, police said on Sunday, suspecting it to be a case of suicide

The young nurse, originally from the Siwan district in Bihar, had been employed at the hospital for the past month. She was residing in Rawatpur with a family acquaintance for the last six years, officials confirmed.

According to police, the nurse was on duty Saturday night but went missing the following morning during the change of shifts. Her colleagues began searching for her when she could not be located. The search ended on the hospital’s third floor, where they found a private room bathroom locked from the inside. After breaking open the door, they discovered the nurse lying unresponsive on the floor.

Police found injections and medicines at the spot. According to officials, prima facie, it is suspected to be death by suicide by poisoning, reports NDTV.

The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and an investigation is currently in progress. The hospital authorities have yet to release any details regarding the incident.
