Hyderabad: To enhance healthcare accessibility and quality, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced plans to establish multi-speciality hospitals in all 175 assembly constituencies, each with a capacity of 100 to 300 beds. The hospitals will be set up under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, marking a major step toward achieving the government's vision of a "Healthy Andhra Pradesh" in the next five years.

Naidu highlighted the collaboration with global organizations, such as Tata and the Gates Foundations, to introduce world-class healthcare technology and practices in every hospital.

According to the Hindustan Times, “Every constituency will have a 100-300-bed multi-speciality hospital. Out of 175 constituencies, 70 already have such facilities. The remaining 105 will get new hospitals under the PPP mode with viability gap funding and land allotment. We shall study similar models being followed in Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh to ensure best practices,” he said at the Secretariat.

In addition to the district-level hospital projects, Naidu unveiled plans for a mega medicity in Amaravati, which will be developed under the PPP model with central government assistance. The proposed MedCity, covering 200 acres, will include 100 acres dedicated to healthcare infrastructure, 40 acres for residential facilities for healthcare professionals, and 20 acres for commercial use. The MedCity, jointly handled by the health department and Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA aims to promote health tourism.

Naidu mentioned that the Centre has plans to develop 25 such medicities across India, and discussions are underway to locate one in Amaravati. He also highlighted the state's commitment to digital healthcare innovation. Andhra Pradesh is leading the country in the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat health accounts, with 88% of the population already enrolled. As part of this digital push, a pilot Digital Nerve Centre has been established in Kuppam, with plans to expand to Chittoor and eventually cover the entire state.

As part of the government's broader health agenda, Naidu announced that the state aims to complete full health screenings of all residents by June 2025. He added that the focus would be on raising awareness and encouraging changes in lifestyle and food habits to help reduce the disease burden.
