AP Health Minister directs daily monitoring of Govt doctors' performance

Vijayawada: Strict instructions were issued by Minister for Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education Satya Kumar Yadav on Monday to closely monitor the daily patient load of all government doctors, warning that negligent or absent staff would face immediate disciplinary action. 

During a four-hour review meeting at the State Secretariat, the Minister expressed serious concern over repeated complaints of doctors being unavailable, especially in teaching hospitals, district headquarters hospitals, area hospitals, and community health centres. He instructed authorities to track the number of patients each doctor examines daily in OPDs and submit detailed performance reports regularly.

At the same time, Yadav emphasised that doctors providing quality medical services should be recognised and encouraged. He made it clear that while good performance would be rewarded, there would be no leniency for those failing to fulfil their duties.

The Minister also criticised the poor performance of hospital administrators in teaching hospitals, noting that many are not stationed on campus, which hampers smooth patient services. He also raised concerns about the practice of re-registering inpatients under OPD to inflate patient numbers and ordered a thorough review of the system.

In addition to government hospitals, Yadav directed officials to ensure private hospitals implement ABHA IDs and mandatorily register cancer treatment details in the Notifiable Disease Registry.

According to the Hindu, Principal Secretary Saurabh Gaur, Director of Secondary Health Chakradhar Babu, and others were present in the meeting.
