Bihar CM inaugurates 500-bed hospital building at IGIMS, expanding capacity to 1700
Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday inaugurated a 500-bed hospital building at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), increasing the institute’s total capacity to 1,700 beds. He said that all modern medical facilities would be available at the IGIMS.
After inaugurating the A and B Block of the Hospital with a capacity of 200 beds, constructed at an expenditure of Rs 280 crore, Kumar said on Saturday that it is a prestigious Hospital where all modern facilities would be available for providing better treatment to the patients.
Outlining the steps initiated by his government to improve the medical facilities across the state, Kumar said that the treatment facilities have been improved right from Primary Health Centre up to Medical College Hospitals.

He said that the medicines were being distributed free of cost and the government was working in the interest of the common people.
As per the media report in the Patna Press, for admitted patients, bedside sample collection for pathological tests will be available, along with radiological examination facilities. The new infrastructure also features modular operation theatres, a high-dependency unit (HDU), and a recovery ICU for post-surgical care, all of which are located on the fifth floor.
While inspecting the newly constructed building, the Chief Minister instructed the authorities concerned to install solar plates on the rooftop to provide solar energy in the hospital.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced plans to construct a new Medical College and Hospital in Araria district. He stated that a team would be formed soon to identify suitable land for the construction of the facility. During the second phase of his Pragati Yatra, Kumar visited Araria during the day and inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 449 projects worth Rs 305 crore for the district.
