Corruption racket in Safdarjung Hospital: Court grants bail to man accused of extracting money from patients
“Taking note of the nature of accusations and the role attributed to him by the prosecution as stated to be working under the instructions and directions of main accused Dr Manish Rawat, and taking note of the custody period of the applicant, i.e. around 51 days in total, the accused is admitted to regular bail,” the judge said.;
New Delhi: Following the arrest of an associate professor of Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi along with 4 others of his accomplice including middlemen and a proprietor of a surgical store for alleged involvement in forcing patients into buying surgical equipment from a particular establishment at exorbitant prices for early dates of their surgery, the Delhi session court on Friday granted bail to the middleman in connection with the case.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had arrested a neurosurgeon of Safdarjung Hospital and his four accomplices after a raid was conducted in several Delhi and Uttar Pradesh locations linked to Manish Rawat, the neurosurgeon who works as an associate professor at Safdarjung Hospital and busted the nefarious nexus.
Noting that the investigation in the case is almost complete, special judge Anil Antil granted the relief to Avnesh Patel, observing that he was working under the instructions and directions of the main accused Dr Manish Rawat.
