Coimbatore: The Krishnagiri Government Medical College and Hospital have appointed Dr P. Sangeetha as the new Dean cum Special Officer. Dr Sangeetha took charge after the outgoing Dean K. Coimbatore: The Krishnagiri Government Medical College and Hospital have appointed Dr P. Sangeetha as the new Dean cum Special Officer. Dr Sangeetha took charge after the outgoing Dean K. Asokan who was set to retire on June 30 was suspended a day before his retirement. 

On the forenoon of June 30, Dr Sangeetha took charge as the Dean cum Special officer of the institute.

A release issued by the hospital stated, "All confidential letters and demi-official letters intended to the Dean cum Special Officer may be addressed to Dr Sangettha, Government Medical College Hospital, Pollupalli, Krishnagiri -635115", reports the Hindu.

The Tamil Samayam reports that Dr Asokan was suspended due to an alleged complaint of irregularities in the purchase of medical equipment. The government has directed a probe into the incident.

Dr Asokan was sworn in as the Principal (Dean) of the medical college located at Bolupally, Krishnagiri District in December 2021. His removal just before his retirement has reportedly created a stir in the medical college community. 

The Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported a similar report on a new appointment where Dr T Dilip Kumar was recently elected as the national president of the Indian Nursing Council. On the other hand, Dr Jogendra Sharma was elected as the national vice-president of the Indian Nursing Council. Elections for the posts of president and vice-president of the Indian Nursing Council were held in New Delhi a few days ago. Dr T Dilip Kumar secured victory against Dr Ramalinga Mali, former president of Maharashtra Nursing Council and Dr Sharma won the election defeating Dr Anne Grace, registrar of Nursing Council Tamil Nadu. Dr T Dileep Kumar is a former Nursing Adviser for Govt. of India.
