A release issued by the hospital stated, "All confidential letters and demi-official letters intended to the Dean cum Special Officer may be addressed to Dr Sangettha, Government Medical College Hospital, Pollupalli, Krishnagiri -635115", reports the Hindu.

The Tamil Samayam reports that Dr Asokan was suspended due to an alleged complaint of irregularities in the purchase of medical equipment. The government has directed a probe into the incident.

Dr Asokan was sworn in as the Principal (Dean) of the medical college located at Bolupally, Krishnagiri District in December 2021. His removal just before his retirement has reportedly created a stir in the medical college community.
