Guindy multi super speciality hospital to get 500 more beds at cost of Rs 240.54 crore
Chennai: The ongoing work of the much-awaited multi-super speciality hospital at the King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research is set to receive a boost after the Tamil Nadu health department sanctioned another Rs 240.54 crore to expand the hospital.
In 2021, the DMK government announced the construction of the 500-bed hospital at the King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research in Guindy for Rs 250 crore.

The hospital, by the name of Kalaignar Centenary Super Speciality Hospital, would be expanded by adding 500 more beds and would include specialities such as nephrology, urology, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, medical and surgical gastroenterology, radiology, vascular surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, medical and surgical oncology, transfusion medicine, anesthesiology, pathology and a biochemistry department.
