At present, employees in Dera Bassi and adjoining industrial zones rely on ESI facilities located in Ludhiana, Mohali, and Chandigarh, which are insufficient to meet the growing healthcare demand. Derabassi MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh for the decision, calling it a “big step towards improving medical facilities” in the region.

According to Randhawa, the hospital will be constructed by the Centre, while the Punjab government has allocated four acres of land for the project.

Speaking to TOI, he added that the facility will not only benefit the residents of Derabassi, but also thousands of industrial workers and nearby villagers who currently travel long distances for treatment.

The proposed ESIC hospital is expected to provide maternal and child healthcare, emergency services, diagnostic facilities, and specialist OPDs, ensuring accessible and quality healthcare for the local population.
