Patna to get state-of-the-art Eye Hospital by 2026, says CM Nitish Kumar
Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone of R Jhunjhunwala Shankara Eye Hospital, which is being set up under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model in Patna. The hospital is expected to be fully operational by December 2026.
While laying the foundation stone, Kumar said here today that the hospital will be a state-of-the-art center for specialised eye care services.
According to a UNI report, reaffirming his government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure across Bihar, Kumar said that his government was focusing on improving the health services in the state so that no one was forced to go outside Bihar for treatment. He said that the construction of the super-specialty eye hospital will significantly boost local access to high-quality ophthalmic care.

Earlier, the hospital management, through a detailed presentation, outlined the hospital’s architectural layout, proposed facilities and the advanced diagnostic and surgical technologies.
According to the project team, the hospital is expected to be fully functional by December 2026.
The upcoming Eye Hospital would prove to be a major milestone in the state’s ongoing efforts to modernise healthcare through collaborative partnerships between the government and private sector.

The MoU was signed by Sanjay Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Health Department, and Padma Shri Dr R.B. Ramani, Managing Director of the Sankara Eye Foundation India, in the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
