She was first informed of giving birth to a baby boy by a nurse who later told her that she had given birth to a baby girl. Mamatha held the doctor and nurse responsible for the swapping of babies that took place in the operation theatre.

Another woman from Asifabad, Bollam Pavani alleged that a similar thing happened to her and the doctor and nurses told her that she had given birth to a baby boy, reports the Siasat.

Both the woman had given birth to a baby boy and baby girl within a time period of eight minutes, following which the babies were reportedly swapped by the nurses. The family members demanded a DNA test to find out which woman gave birth to which baby.

On Tuesday night, both of them were admitted to the hospital for delivery, following which the doctors performed a C-section on both of them done within a period of eight minutes. After the incident, the family members of the babies held a protest and accused the doctor and staff of being negligent.

The Mancherial Hospital Superintendent Dr Harishchandra Reddy said that the newborns were handed over to the officials of the Child and Women Department, where they would undergo a DNA test before being handed over to their parents. He added that the hospital would be taking measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

Stating that they have requested for a DNA test, Dr Reddy informed The New Indian Express, "After receipt of the report, we would know who delivered which baby. Till then, the babies will be in the neonatal care unit under the supervision of doctors."
