Amravati Super Speciality Hospital gets Rs 9 crore for blood bank, medical equipment
Amaravati: The Maharashtra government has sanctioned Rs 9 crore for establishing a Metro Blood Bank and procuring medical equipment at Super Speciality Hospital, Amaravati.
The Super Speciality Hospital in Amaravati is a healthcare lifeline for patients across all five districts of the Amaravati division. The Planning Department has approved the funds for the construction of the blood bank, along with the procurement of medical supplies and advanced equipment for various other units of the hospital.
The decision comes amid concerns over the lack of an on-site blood bank. Despite the hospital operating 7 to 8 specialised units, the facility has been dependent on external blood banks to meet blood requirements, particularly for surgeries.
Placing patient care at the forefront and prioritising treatment, the government has focused on implementing necessary measures through continuous communication and coordination with the hospital administration.
Following a suggestion from MLA Smt. Sulabhatai Khodke, the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, Dr. Amol Narote, submitted a proposal to the government through the office of the District Civil Surgeon, Amravati. MLA Khodke also urged the Planning Department to allocate substantial funds under the relevant health budget head.
In a significant development, administrative approval has now been granted under the General District Annual Plan (2026-27) to establish a state-of-the-art ‘Metro Blood Bank’ (including pathology and laboratory facilities) at the Super Speciality Hospital, Amravati, at a cost of Rs. 4.94 crore.
Furthermore, administrative approval has been granted by the Planning Department for an expenditure of Rs. 4.41 crore for the procurement of medical materials, resources, equipment, machinery, and solar panels for other units of the hospital, as well as for initiatives to enhance patient treatment facilities.
