Alleged irregularities in pharma university recruitment process: Delhi L-G instructs officials to examine report
Delhi: The recruitment of teachers at Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University (DPSRU) has come under scanner as Lieutenant-Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has directed the Directorate of Training and Technical Education (DTTE) to examine a report presented by an inquiry committee on alleged irregularities in the hiring process.
According to a recent media report in The Hindu, sources at Raj Niwas, Saxena has requested Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar to direct the DTTE to propose specific actions to address the "gross violation of rules" committed by DPSRU officials during the recruitment process spanning from 2017 to 2019.
These alleged irregularities came to light during an investigation by the Vigilance Department while examining complaints. The department's findings indicate several instances of "illegal/corrupt practices/favouritism" in recruitments, even as recent as 2019. It was noted that the verification of educational qualifications and experience certificates had not been properly conducted for these appointments, and there was no request for approval from the competent authority for the relaxation of eligibility criteria.

Subsequent to Saxena's approval, the department issued a notice to DPSRU's Vice-Chancellor Ramesh K. Goyal on May 10 regarding the recruitment process. He has responded to the notice, providing the available records, which have been reviewed by the DTTE. Additionally, an inquiry committee, composed of three officials, was established to investigate the matter following the L-G's authorization, reports The Hindu.
The DTTE, operating under the Delhi government's purview, is responsible for supplying trained technical personnel to educational institutions and promoting industry-related research and development. DPSRU, in operation since 2015, is India's pioneering university for pharmaceutical studies, with the Lieutenant-Governor serving as its Chancellor.
