Unfortunate: 25-year-old AIIMS doctor succumbs to COVID-19

New Delhi: In an unfortunate incident, a young doctor attached to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) succumbed to COVID-19 on Monday morning.

The resident doctors of the hospital confirmed that the 25-year-old doctor had a long battle against the virus for over a month. On Saturday, the doctor was shifted from the Jhajjar campus to AIIMS Trauma Centre in Delhi and was put on a ventilator.

At a time like this will extending their services day and night in order to contain the pandemic, the untimely demise of a young doctor has bought grief into the medical community.

One of the resident doctors, Dr. Amrindeer Singh Malhi informed Hindustan Times that after completing his internship the doctor returned to his hometown in Haryana where he got infected with the coronavirus. After he started facing some health troubles, he was rushed back to AIIMS for treatment; however, despite the best efforts of the doctors, his health condition declined and he eventually passed away. He was put on ventilation for one and a half months before he eventually succumbed to COVID. 

The doctor was a resident of Haryana and he completed his MBBS from AIIMS in the 2012 batch. He was a bright and talented student and also the topper of his batch. Another resident doctor Abhinav Singh told Hindustan Times that the doctor had sponsored the education of many students from class 6 to 10 in a school in Leh Ladakh for 2 years.
