PG Radiodiagnosis student from MGM Medical College bags bronze medal at international conference

Indore: A PG medico of the Department of Radiodiagnosis at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College has won a bronze medal at an international conference organised by Asian Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (AFSUMB 2021).

According to a recent report by Free Press Journal, Dr. Gulshan Madhuriya, along with four of his colleagues, had recently attended the conference and presented his research paper on "Role of Color Doppler in Retinal Artery in Diabetic Patients to Look for Early Diagnosis of Diabetic Retinopathy." He was awarded the Bronze Medal in the category of Young Researcher for the same, being the only Indian at the conference to have bagged an award.

The conference was the 14th Congress of the Asian Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (AFSUMB 2021), in conjunction with the 21st Annual Meeting of the Chinese Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (CSUM 2021). It was organized by Asian Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (AFSUMB), Chinese Medical Association (CMA) and the Chinese Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (CSUM) at Zhongda Zhuhai International Conference Centre, Zhuhai, Guangdong, China, from 16th September 2021 till 19th September 2021.

"Dr Gulshan Madhpuriya, III year MD student, won bronze medal in the category of young researcher for his paper, 'Role of Color Doppler in Retinal Artery in Diabetic Patients to Look for Early Diagnosis of Diabetic Retinopathy.' Moreover, he is the only Indian student who bagged the award in the conference," Dr. Alka Agrawal, HOD of Radiodiagnosis at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, said in conversation with Free press Journal.

Dr. Agrawal had served as the guide for all five of the Post-Graduate students from MGMMC who took part in the conference.

It is noteworthy that renowned radiologists and ultrasonologists from around the globe took part in the conference, virtually.
