Puducherry: Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) has announced a vacancy for the post of Director as the incumbent’s tenure is about to end within six months. JIPMER authorities have posted a notification on the website and directed the candidates to submit their applications on or before July 31, 2023 (4.30 PM). 

Applications have been invited, considering that the tenure of the incumbent Director, Dr Rakesh Aggarwal, is due to end in January 2024.

The qualifications for the post include a high postgraduate qualification in medicine or surgery or public health and their branches, teaching and or research experience of not less than ten years, and 25 years standing in the profession. Moreover, the candidates should also possess extensive practical and administrative experience in the field of medical relief, medical research, medical education, or public health organization and adequate experience in running an important scientific educational institution either as its Head or Head of a Department.

As per the notification, the appointment of the Director shall be (for) a tenure appointment for a period of five years from the date on which the official enters upon the office (or) till the official attains the age of sixty-five years, whichever is earlier. The Director will also have to serve a probation period of one year. As far as the upper age limit is concerned, the notification mentioned that the candidates should be  "Not exceeding sixty years. Relaxable for government servants or retired government servants or serving or retired persons from autonomous institutions or statutory institutions of state or central government or exceptionally qualified candidates."

The appointee will be given a Level-17 as per 7th CPC [Rs 2,25,000 (fixed) plus a non-practicing allowance of 20% of basic pay; Pay plus NPA does not exceed Rs 2,37,500]. Moreover, residential accommodation will be provided on the Institute's campus on payment of the license fee at a standard rate under F.R. 45 or 10% of pay, whichever is less.

" Eligible candidates may apply in the prescribed proforma along with self-attested photocopies of all relevant certificates and documents to the address below through Registered/Speed Post, in an envelope super-scribed as Application for the post of Director, JIPMER," added the notification.
