The incident took place after the driver suddenly fell ill, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The collision shattered the windows, resulting in minor injuries to several students. The police were immediately notified after the incident.

Meanwhile, the injured students were admitted to the government general hospital in Kothagudem. Currently the injured students are undergoing treatment. None of the students sustained serious injuries, according to a Deccan chronicle report.

This bus was being operated by a private agency hired by the Government Medical College, Kothagudem, to transport students between the college and the hostel. The distance between the college and the hostel is approximately four kilometers.

Last year, Medical Dialogues had reported that a student of a government dental college was run over by a speeding vehicle, and two fellow doctors accompanying her were seriously injured. The deceased had been identified as a 26-year-old final-year student of Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) and a resident of Patran, Punjab.

The police were informed immediately after the incident. According to the investigating officer, the incident occurred at around 12:30 AM when she and her two companions were returning to their paying guest accommodation in Officer Colony after taking a practical exam. Their scooter was allegedly hit from behind by a speeding SUV, resulting in fatal head injuries to the MDS student.
