Depression Strikes: Gandhi Medical College PG Medical Student allegedly Commits Suicide
Hyderabad: A PG Medical Student of Gandhi Medical College allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself to a ceiling fan at her apartment in Prakash Nagar, Begumpet. As claimed by the Dean of the institution, the junior doctor was under depression due to personal reasons.
The 35-year-old medico has been identified as a first-year student of bio-medicine at Gandhi Medical College. A native of Narsampet, Warangal District, she completed her MBBS from a private university in Russia. She practiced at a private hospital in Warangal prior to joining the PG course.
The deceased doctor was sharing a rented flat with two other girls for the last couple of months. However, they vacated when one of them tested Covid-19 positive.
Thereafter, on December 4, the medico's nephew, who found the doctor hanging on reaching her flat, reported about the unfortunate incident to the police.
As per various media accounts, for the past six months, the PG medico was not in contact with her family (except her sister) due to differences with them over a marriage alliance that had been brought. She was reportedly forced by her parents to get married.
