Siddhartha medical college Bengaluru ophthalmology medico allegedly commits suicide

Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a postgraduate medico at Siddhartha Medical College in Bengaluru allegedly committed suicide after jumping from the terrace of an apartment in Nagaram.

According to the police, the doctor's family believes she may have taken the extreme step due to academic stress and has not raised suspicion against anyone. 

A suicide note was recovered by the police from the spot during the investigation. The note mentioned that she was unhappy with her life and was mentally disturbed.

The woman medico had completed her MBBS and was pursuing her postgraduate medical studies in ophthalmology at the institute for the past six months. She had returned to Hyderabad last week to stay with her parents at their residence in West Gandhi Nagar, Nagaram.

The incident took place on Friday when the medico went to the terrace of the apartment in the evening and allegedly jumped from the building. She was immediately rushed to a hospital in Nagaram for treatment but later succumbed to her injuries.

Following her death, the father filed a complaint at the police station. Based on the complaint, Keesara police registered a case under section 194 (suspicious death) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita on Friday night.

Speaking to the police as quoted by TOI, the father said. "She attempted suicide by jumping from the apartment building. I shifted her to a hospital in Nagaram where she died while undergoing treatment. I have no suspicion on anyone. There are no disturbances in my family and we suspect that she might have resorted to the extreme step due to academic stress."

During the investigation, the police found the suicide note as reported by The Hindu. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to her death.

Medical Dialogues had reported earlier that a final-year MBBS student of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, committed suicide by jumping from the sixth floor of the E-block of the institute. Shortly before the incident, the student reportedly sent individual "goodbye" messages to several close friends. Worried by the unexpected texts, they immediately attempted to call him, but it was already too late.
