The district of Dhalai claimed long for a medical college here in the leftist regime which was never materialized. The BJP took up the issue and after the Lok Sabha election MP Rebati Tripura sanctioned funds from his local area development project.

Then it was found that the land in the district hospital remained less for the construction and searching for new land started. At last, a patch of land was found at Lalchari area adjacent to the district hospital but some elements tried to hinder the project. Ultimately, the site was identified today.
The Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Ambassa J V Duati said, "Today land for the hundred seated medical college is identified. Ten acres of land is identified within the periphery of district hospital and rest 14 acres are identified at the adjacent Lalchari area. Now the rest process would speed up".
