New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has now extended the deadline to submit Bank Guarantees (BGs) for establishment of new Medical College, increase of MBBS seats, and start and increase of PG Courses.

Previously the Apex Medical Commission had asked the applicants to submit the Bank Guarantees (BGs) within October 20, 2023. However, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC issued a notice last year and extended the deadline for submission of BGs till October 31, 2023.

Directing all the applicants for start/increase of UG and PG Courses in Medical Colleges during the AY 2024-2025, NMC further clarifed in the notice that if the applicants fail to submit the necessary Bank Guarantees (BGs) within the deadline, their application shall not be considered for the Academic Year 2024-2025.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that NMC MARB had asked the applicants seeking to open new medical colleges or start/increase MBBS and PG medical seats to submit the required Bank Guarantees within October 20, 2023.

In this regard, the NMC notice dated 12.10.2023 stated, "All the applicants (Colleges) who have successfully submitted their applications for Academic Year 2024-25 on NMC Portal for Establishment of new Medical Colleges, increase of MBBS seats, starting of PG Courses and increase of PG seats are requested to submit the necessary Bank Guarantees (BGs) wherever applicable on or before 20.10.2023 positively failing which their applications will be rejected and not entertained in any circumstances."

However, now NMC has extended the deadline. Issuing a notice on October 20, 2023, "In continuation to MARB’s public notice of even number dated 12.10.2023, the last date for submission of Bank Guarantee (BGs) for establishment of new Medical Colleges, increase of MBBS seats, start of PG Courses and increase of PG seats has been extended till 31.10.2023. All the applicants are again requested to submit the necessary Bank Guarantees (BGs), wherever applicable, latest by 31.10.2023, failing which their application shall not be considered for the AY 2024-25."

"This issues with the approval of Competent Authority," NMC Medical Assessment and Rating Board further mentioned in the notice.

The Apex Medical Commission through a notice dated August 16, 2023 had invited applications for starting new PG Broad and Super Speciality courses, or an increase of MD/MS, DM/MCh for the academic year 2024-2025. The Commission had asked the medical institutes to send the applications to the NMC Board by September 15, 2023, along with the documents including- Valid Consent of Affiliation (CoA) in the prescribed proforma, details of hospital and department, revised fees along with UTR number. Later, the PG Board of NMC had asked the medical colleges, whose applications for recognition/renewal of recognition of PG medical qualifications during the year 2022 were pending, to submit fresh applications for an increase of PG medical seats for the academic session 2024-2025.

Meanwhile, the application to start new medical colleges, increase of MBBS seats, and renewal of courses pending recognitions for the academic year 2024-25 was invited by NMC MARB back in August 2023.

At that time, the Commission had clarified that "Only online application will be accepted. Applications received after the due date will not be entertained."
