Hyderabad: In a major boost to the medical education in Telangana, around 1200 additional MBBS seats are going to be added to the seat matrix of the State from this academic year i.e. 2022-2023.
The medical seats in Telangana are going to increase further since the officials of the State Health Department have confirmed that the National Medical Commission (NMC) is expected to give its permission for four medical colleges in Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Kothagudem and Ramagundam in the next few weeks.
If the Commission approves 150 MBBS seats in each of these four medical colleges, altogether eight new medical colleges in Telangana would become operational from this academic year with 1200 MBBS seats.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that Minister T Harish Rao recently announced that eight Telangana based medical colleges would begin their admission process by the academic year 2022-2023.
Those eight medical colleges were in Sangareddy, Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Wanaparthy, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jagtial, Nagarkurnool and Ramagundam.
Recently, NMC gave its nod for the medical colleges at Jagtial, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy and Sangareddy which are set to commence MBBS admissions from this academic year.
