NMC Approval for Medical Colleges in Wanaparthy, Sangareddy with 150 MBBS seats each
Hyderabad: The total number of MBBS seats in Telangana has increased further as the National Medical Commission (NMC) has given its approval for commencing medical colleges in Wanaparthy and Sangareddy districts of the State with 150 MBBS seats each.
NMC, the apex medical education regulatory body has given its nod for these colleges after the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the Commission inspected the infrastructural facilities available at the college.
These two medical colleges in Wanaparthy and Sangareddy are two of the eight proposed medical colleges that the Telangana Government had been planning to start operating from this academic year 2022-23.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that Minister T Harish Rao recently announced that eight Telangana based medical colleges would begin their admission process by the academic year 2022-2023.
Those eight medical colleges were in Sangareddy, Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Wanaparthy, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Jagtial, Nagarkurnool and Ramagundam.

Recently, NMC gave its nod for the medical college at Jagtial, and Nagarkurnool which is set to commence its MBBS admission from this academic year i.e. 2022-2023.
As per the latest media report by Telangana Today, now the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC has given its nod for 150 MBBS seats each of the medical colleges in Wanaparthy and Sangareddy.
Last month, the MARB had inspected the infrastructural facilities of the colleges including the buildings, library, hostels, hospital, availability of faculty, their experience, publications, residents, tutors, nursing and paramedical staff etc.
As per the information provided by the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya before the Parliament, there are a total number of 34 medical colleges in Telangana with an intake capacity for 5040 MBBS seats. Among these, there are a total number of 11 government medical colleges with an intake capacity of 1840 MBBS seats and 23 private medical colleges with an intake capacity for 3200 MBBS seats.
Meanwhile, the Telangana Government recently gave the administrative nod for setting up eight more medical colleges and upgrade the attached government general hospitals. For this, the State has already sanctioned Rs 1479 crore. These new medical colleges would come up in Rajanna Siricilla, Vikarabad, Khammam, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Asifabad and Jangaon.
