DCI Issues directions for colleges on Online Faculty and Student Attendance Monitoring System, Details
New Delhi: Dental Council of India (DCI) has issued information related to monitoring the attendance of faculties and PG students under the Online Faculty and Student Attendance Monitoring System (OFSAMS) project and the enrollment of remaining faculties and PG Students.
DCI will start the monitoring attendance of faculties and students from 1st June 2022 through the machines installed by DCI at all the dental colleges under the OFSAMS project. This attendance data will monitor the presence of faculties and students in all the dental colleges.
All the colleges are directed to inform all the faculties and students to record their attendance through Biometric Devices installed on college premises by DCI. It came to DCI's notice that many students and faculties are still not enrolled in this attendance system due to some reasons. A final chance is given to the colleges to enrol such students and faculties.
The colleges are notified to send the list of remaining faculties and students who have not yet been enrolled. The list should be duly signed and stamped by the Dean/Principal of the college. The list of faculties and students should be emailed at project.dci@techinfy.in and a copy marked at secydci@nic.in within 3 working days from the receipt of this communication.
The mobile number and Aadhar number should be linked already for both faculties and students for the enrollment process. The college will be allotted dates once DCI receives the list for engineers' visits to the college to enrol the remaining faculties and students. Only those faculties and students whose names shall be available on the list shall be enrolled. The given dates shall be final, and any request for rescheduling of dates shall not be entertained under any circumstances.
All the activities have to be carried out under CCTV surveillance. The college will have to provide the basic infrastructure like a PC/Laptop with high-speed internet, table, chair and power supply to the team who will carry out the registration activity.
On the day of enrollment, faculties and students will have to carry college ID proof and original Aadhar card.
DCI will determine the strength of faculties and students of a college based on enrolment under OFSAMS. This data shall be considered final data regarding the attendance of faculty and students for all intent and purposes concerning inspection, assessment, and procedural activities.

The project's main purpose is to develop and implement OFSAMS across dental colleges in India and enrolment of faculties and PG students in these colleges. To fulfil the project's objectives, faculties and PG students are enrolled under the attendance monitoring system only for good governance.
The implementation of OFSAMS has enabled digital attendance monitoring practices in all dental institutions across the country, enabling DCI to more effectively monitor faculty availability at its various colleges through Online Faculty Attendance Monitoring System.
As per DCI, the process of implementing Digital Initiative at DCI headquarters and its constituent colleges has been initiated to enhance operational efficiency, ensure availability of relevant information regularly, and create a better decision support system within the organization and all other stakeholders.
The main objectives are –
1. Standardizing processes and practices across the Council.
2. Online interface between DCI HQ and its various dental colleges and institutions, hospitals.
3. Incorporating process improvements to increase the efficiency of managing resources.
4. Implementation of Online Faculty & Students Attendance Monitoring System (OFSAMS) at dental institutions across the country.
5. Standardizing attendance monitoring processes and practices across the colleges to conform to policies and procedures.
6. Eliminating administrative activities that do not add value.
7. Reconciliation and implementation of unique ID for faculties and implementation of the attendance monitoring system for faculties and PG students.
