Meanwhile, as per the MBBS provisional seat matrix, a total of 135 seats are vacant for MBBS. Of these, 50 MBBS seats are at Farookh Academy of Medical Education Hospital and Research Institute, Mysuru district, and 85 MBBS seats are at Bagalkote Medical College and Research Institute.
At Farookh Academy, the 50-seat distribution includes seats across Rest of Karnataka reservation categories as well as open, GMPH, GMP, other quota and NRI categories.
Bagalkote Medical College, meanwhile, has 85 MBBS seats reflected in the matrix. The distribution includes seats under Kalyana Karnataka and Rest of Karnataka reservation categories, along with other special-category seats. Below is the detailed seat matrix-
MEDICAL (MBBS) PROVISIONAL SEAT MATRIX - 2026
S.NO | COLLEGE NAME | TOTAL SEATS |
1 | Farookh Academy of Medical Education Hospital and Research Institute, Mysore District | 50 |
2 | Bagalkote Medical College and Research Institute, Navanagar, Bagalkote | 85 |
GRAND TOTAL | 135 | |
Both the medical and dental matrices provide an extensive category-wise breakup. Apart from General Merit and reserved categories, KEA has separately shown seats under categories such as NRI, OPN, GMP, GMPH and other quotas, along with special-category reservations.
The matrixes also separately identify Scheduled Caste sub-categories, with S1 representing SCA, S2 representing SCB, S3 representing SCC (80%) and S4 representing SCC (20%).
Candidates participating in the second round should therefore compare their preference list against the latest matrix before locking choices. A college that showed no vacancy earlier may now have seats available because of fresh additions, non-joining, surrender or restructuring of the seat matrix. However, eligibility depends on the candidate’s category and the type of seat for which they qualify.
The latest update gives MBBS and BDS aspirants another important opportunity to reassess their options before the next allotment. With new medical seats appearing alongside vacancies across established government and private institutions, candidates should carefully check the college, quota and category against which each seat is listed before finalising their choices.
