TN Health invites Applications For MBBS, BDS admissions Under Management Quota, check out details
Tamil Nadu: The online application process has begun for admission to MBBS and BDS courses under management quota, including minority / NRI seats in self-financing medical/dental colleges affiliated to the Tamil Nadu DR. M.G.R. Medical University 2023-2024 Session. Tamil Nadu Health (TN Health) has released a detailed prospectus.

The candidates must go to the website http://www.tnmedialselection.org/ and click on the link “Apply Online for MBBS_BDS application 2023-2024. There will be a separate application form for Government and Management Quota. They should submit their filled-in online application form after uploading the details in the required fields.
The cost of the application form is Rs. 1000 (non-refundable) and should be paid through the online Bank payment portal on the websites.
Candidates should fill up all mandatory columns, upload all required documents and submit the duly filled-in online application. The candidates may download their filled-in online application form and secure a copy of the same for their future reference.
If seats are vacant in any category after the exhaustion of the merit list (From that specific category), those seats will be converted to the general category in the subsequent round.

The documents to be submitted along with the application form –
NEET- UG 2023 Admit Card and Scorecard
Class X Mark Sheet (both sides of Mark Sheet)

Candidates who are eligible to claim linguistic minority seats in Self-Financing Medical / Dental Colleges should produce a study certificate issued by the Head of the Institution last studied- Annexure – I (a) or to claim religious minority should produce a certificate issued by the competent revenue authority of the candidate’s native jurisdiction – Annexure– I (b) along with the following certificates -
1. Nativity certificate obtained from Tamil Nadu for the candidates who are seeking admission under the minority category.
2. Permanent Community Certificate Card.
Age limit –
Candidates should have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or should have completed 17 years on or before 31st December of this year, 2023.
General eligibility criteria -
1. Candidates should be Citizens of India.
2. Non-Resident of India (N.R.I) and Persons of Indian Origin (P.I.O) / Overseas Citizens of India (O.C.I) are also eligible for admission in Medical / Dental Colleges subject to the rules and regulations framed by the Government of Tamil Nadu / Government of India. Persons of Indian Origin (P.I.O)/ Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) will be considered only for the NRI seats as per the Gazette of India, Dated.04.03.2021. They will not be eligible for any kind of reservation.
Qualifying Criteria -
The National Testing Agency will prepare an All India Merit List of successful candidates of NEET (UG) – 2023 on the basis of eligibility criteria provided by the Board of Governors in Supersession of Medical Council of India and Dental Council of India as given by the Graduate Medical Education Regulations-1997 issued under Indian Medical Council Act- 1956 and BDS Course Regulations, 2007 issued under the Dentists Act, 1948. The eligibility criteria are as follows -
Admission to MBBS / BDS Degree Courses shall be based solely on marks obtained in the National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (NEET–UG 2023).
In order to be eligible for admission to MBBS / BDS Courses for a particular academic year, it shall be necessary for a candidate to obtain a minimum of marks at the 50th percentile in National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test to MBBS / BDS Courses held for the said academic year. However, in respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, the minimum marks shall be at 40th percentile. In respect of candidates with Bench Mark Disabilities specified under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, the minimum marks shall be at the 45th percentile for unreserved category candidates and the 40th percentile for SC / ST / OBC candidates.
To be eligible for admission to the MBBS / BDS Courses, a candidate must have passed the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology / Biology / Biotechnology, and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology and in addition, must have come in the merit list of National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses.
In respect of the candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and OBC categories, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology taken in qualifying examinations and competitive examinations (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) must be 40% marks instead of 50%.
In respect of candidates with Bench Mark Disabilities specified under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, the minimum marks in qualifying examinations in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Bio-Technology taken together must be 45% instead of 50% for Unreserved category candidates and 40% for SC / ST / OBC candidates.
Candidates who have passed 10+2 from Open School or as private candidates shall not be eligible to appear for the ‘National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test’. Furthermore, studying Biology/Biotechnology as an Additional subject at the 10+2 level also shall not be permissible.
The candidates of other Boards / Universities / Countries (except State Board/CBSE Board/ICSE ) who wish to take up an MBBS / BDS seat in the State of Tamil Nadu should submit the Eligibility Certificate obtained from the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Guindy, Chennai, at the time of admission.
Eligibility for minority seats -
1. The candidates who are natives of Tamil Nadu with a mother tongue of Telugu / Malayalam are eligible for Linguistic Minority seats.
2. The candidates who are natives of Tamil Nadu with Christian Religion are eligible for the Christian Minority seats.
3. The candidates who are eligible to claim Linguistic Minority seats reflecting their mother tongue (Telugu / Malayalam) should produce the Study Certificate (including linguistic details) issued by the Head of the Institution last studied (Annexure - I (a))
4. The candidates who are eligible to claim Religious Minority seats (Christian) which is a notified minority community as per Section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992, should produce a certificate issued by the competent revenue authority of the candidate’s native jurisdiction Annexure - I (b).
5. 50 % of Christian Medical College, Vellore seats shall be filled up by the Management by the same procedure that was being followed for earlier the academic year’s college on the basis of inter – se merit as per the NEET results.
6. Out of this 50% of Christian Medical College, Vellore - Management quota seats, as per past practice, 10% seats are to be allotted to the children of the staff members working in the applicant college on the basis of inter – se merit as per the NEET results.
Eligibility criteria for NRI –
The following guidelines shall be followed for admission to MBBS / BDS Degree Courses 2023-2024 session for the NRI category under Management quota in Self- Financing Medical / Dental Colleges in Tamil Nadu -
“Candidates should be of Indian Origin settled in foreign countries.
OR
Candidates who were born in foreign countries and whose parents are of Indian Origin.
OR
Children of Indian citizens stay abroad for employment and business.
OR
Children of Indian citizens deputed abroad by Public Sector Undertaking.
OR
Children of the Official of the Central / State Government on deputation abroad.
The candidates seeking admission to NRI Quota should hold an Indian passport.
The candidate should have completed 17 years on or before 31st December 2023.
Candidates seeking admission to MBBS/BDS Course under NRI Quota should have passed H.S.C Examination (10+2 pattern) / equivalent.
The candidates should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in Biology or Botany and Zoology / Bio-technology taken together and a minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Chemistry.
The medium of Instruction should be English.
In cases where two or more candidates obtained equal marks, the rank of such candidate may be determined on the basis of seniority in age.
Admission under the Non-Resident of India scheme may be made on the basis of the marks obtained in the Qualifying Examination NEET UG-2023.
The seats under the NRI quota should be utilized by the Bonafide NRIs only and for their children or wards. Therefore, the NRI financially supporting the candidates should either be the parent (Father or Mother) of the candidate or the spouse or the blood relatives of the candidates or legally declared as guardian of the candidate by the Court as per provisions in “The Guardians and Wards Act 1890”.
Candidates applying under the “NRI” quota should upload the following documents -
1. NRI status of the financial supporter issued by the Indian Embassy of the respective country under their seal or OCI card
2. Certificate of Relationship between the NRI financial supporter and the candidate issued by the competent Revenue authority, valid Indian Passport of the NRI financial supporter.
3. NRE (Non-Resident External) Bank Account Pass Book of the financial supporter.
4. Evidence for payment of Development charges of US $ 1000/- to the college by the NRI financial supporter (One-time payment at the time of admission only).
Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Candidates applying for NRI Seats should upload the following documents -
1. Candidate’s OCI card
2. Candidate’s Birth Certificate
3. Either One of the Parent’s Indian Passport/ OCI cards and any one of the SSLC/PUC / HSC Mark sheet / Transfer Certificate.
4. Ward Certificate (Annexure – II).
Candidates who apply under the NRI quota are instructed to furnish equivalent marks for the grades awarded at the qualifying examination. If not, the minimum marks will be taken into consideration. Candidates who apply under the NRI quota are instructed to submit their certificates/ documents at the time of submission of filled-in the online application. If he/she fails to submit the required certificates/documents, his / her application will be summarily rejected under NRI Quota.
As per NEET UG-2023, Information Bulletin amended Clause 5.2.2., dated 15/04/2023, Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), Persons with Indian Origin (PIO), and Foreign Nationals are eligible for admission in Medical/Dental/Ayurveda/Siddha/Unani/Homeopathy Colleges subject to rules and regulations framed by the respective State Governments, Institutions and the Government of India as the case may be.
Non-eligibility criteria -
1. If the candidates of other Universities / Boards (except the State Board) do not submit the Eligibility Certificate obtained from the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Guindy, Chennai, then their application will be summarily rejected.
2. Candidates presently pursuing the MBBS course in Tamil Nadu or in other States of India or other countries are not eligible to apply for the MBBS Course once again.
3. Candidates presently pursuing the BDS course in Tamil Nadu or in other States of India or other countries are not eligible to apply for the BDS Course again.
Rank list –
The rank list of the candidates shall be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET UG-2023) for MBBS / BDS Degree Courses for the academic year 2023-2024.
Method of selection and admission –
1. The admission shall be made on the basis of National Eligibility – Cum –Entrance Test NEET-UG 2023 score for MBBS / BDS Degree Courses for the year 2023-2024 for the Management Quota seats including Minority / NRI in Self- Financing Medical / Dental Colleges and Christian Medical College, Vellore affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Guindy, Chennai.
2. Merely appearing and qualifying in NEET (UG) – 2023 does not confer any right to the candidate for admission to MBBS / BDS Courses. The selection and admission to MBBS / BDS seats in any Medical Institution recognized for MBBS / BDS Courses is subject to fulfilling the admission criteria, eligibility, rank in the merit list, medical fitness, and such other criteria as may be prescribed by the National Medical Commission, Government of India, respective State Institutions and Medical / Dental Colleges.
3. Candidate’s eligibility for MBBS / BDS Courses is purely provisional and is subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria as prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu as applicable.
4. The Government Orders issued and to be issued from time to time pertaining to any of the matters contained in this prospectus should be read as part and parcel of this Prospectus, and such terms and conditions in the Government Order are deemed to have been incorporated in this Prospectus.
5. Seat sharing with Self-Financing Minority and Non- Minority Medical / Dental Colleges will be as per State Policy and National Medical Commission / Dental Council of India regulations and applicable Court orders.
6. Among seats under Management Quota, 15% of total sanctioned seats will be allotted for NRI Quota.
7. Unfilled seats of the NRI Quota will be reverted to NRI lapsed seats in the subsequent round of counseling. (Refer to fee structure)
8. If the adequate number of eligible candidates are not available under the NRI category, then the earmarked seats will be reverted to NRI lapsed seats, and they will be filled as per the Management Quota (General) Rank List.
9. Self-Financing Minority Medical / Dental Colleges, Minority seats will be filled up as per the Linguistic / Religious Minority Rank List.
10. If an adequate number of eligible linguistic / Religious Minority candidates are not available under the Minority category, then the earmarked seats will be reverted back to Management Quota (General) category, and it will be filled as per the Management Quota (General) rank list.
Rounds of online counseling -
There are four rounds of counseling -
1. Round 1
2. Round 2
3. Mop up Round
4. Stray Round

The counseling schedule will be available on the official websites. At the time of counseling registration, all candidates must have to pay the security deposit of Rs.100000 via the online payment portal for Management Quota, including Minority / NRI Category seats in Self-Financing Medical / Dental Colleges.
Security deposit which will be refunded to the candidates after joining the allotted colleges at the end of all rounds of counseling and if the candidate cannot get any seat during all rounds of counseling. The security deposit may not be refunded for the candidate who has not joined or discontinued the course after completion of 2nd Round of counseling and subsequent Rounds of counseling, and they will also have to forfeit the Registration fee and tuition fee.
Candidates should participate in the counseling session as per their rank and schedule. Candidates are instructed to register and lock their choice of seats for each round of counseling within the stipulated date and time as mentioned in the counseling schedule. Once the candidate locks his/her choices during the online counseling, they cannot be changed later.
A candidate who is absent during the 1st Round of counseling will not be permitted to attend the second Round of Counselling. Any individual intimation will not be sent to the candidates regarding counseling. The candidates are therefore advised to check the official websites frequently till the end of counseling.
Admission to MBBS/BDS course shall be made by online counseling on the basis of rank and based on the preference of Choices given by the candidate. The candidates should produce their original certificates in person at the time of joining their selected Colleges along with the scanned copy of the original certificates to the concerned Colleges.
Mutual transfer/Individual requests for college transfer will not be permitted under any circumstances. Provisionally selected candidates can download the provisional allotment order by paying the tuition fee.
Joined candidates up to Round 2 of All India Quota or State Quota shall not be eligible to participate in further rounds for All India Quota or State Quota from the academic year 2023-2024 onwards.
Categories of seats -
1. Category E - Management Quota seats in Self Financing Medical / Dental Colleges
2. Category F - Minority seats of Management Quota in Self Financing Medical/Dental Colleges
3. Category G - NRI seats of Management Quota in Self Financing Medical / Dental Colleges
4. Category H - Minority seats in Christian Medical College, Vellore.
5. Category I - NRI lapsed seats of Management Quota in Self Financing Medical / Dental Colleges
Duration of the courses -
1. MBBS - 5½ years, including a one-year Compulsory Rotatory Resident Internship.
2. BDS - 5 years, including a one-year Compulsory Rotatory Resident Internship.
