Delhi proposes 108 MD, MS, DNB, Fellowship seats at 10 govt medical institutes
New Delhi: The Delhi Government has proposed adding 108 PG, DNB and Fellowship seats across 10 government medical institutions. Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh announced the expansion aims to build a stronger pool of specialised doctors, improve patient care, and enhance overall health outcomes, marking a significant push in advanced medical training capacity.
According to a recent UNI report,, Out of the total, 67 seats are for MD/MS programmes, 36 seats for DNB courses, and 5 Fellowship positions, expected to ensure a balanced push across multiple streams of specialization.
Among the institutions, Maulana Azad Medical College has been allocated 35 MD/MS seats, while Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical College has received 24 MD/MS seats.
Indira Gandhi Medical College has been allotted 18 DNB seats, and Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital has been allotted 8 DNB seats.
Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital has been allocated 2 DNB seats along with 3 Fellowship positions, while University College of Medical Sciences, in association with GTB Hospital, has 4 MD/MS seats.
Additionally, Guru Gobind Singh Government Hospital has 2 DNB seats, Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital has 4 DNB seats, and Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital has 2 DNB seats.
Delhi State Cancer Institute has been allocated 4 MD/MS seats along with 2 Fellowship positions.
Delhi government's Health Department has proposed a total of 108 postgraduate (PG), DNB, and Fellowship seats. These additional seats are aimed at strengthening both medical education and healthcare delivery across the capital, reports UNI.
Speaking on the development, Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh said, “The expansion of PG, DNB, and Fellowship seats is a significant step towards strengthening Delhi’s healthcare ecosystem."
According to the minister, these seats will help in training a robust pool of highly skilled and specialized doctors, ensuring better patient care and improved health outcomes for the citizens of the national capital.
The proposed seats are distributed across 10 Delhi Government medical and teaching institutions, marking a significant expansion in advanced medical training capacity.
