MGM Medical College Indore gets 39 new PG seats, total intake rises to 322

Indore: In a latest achievement, MGM Medical College, Indore, has received approval for 39 additional postgraduate (PG) medical seats across nine departments, taking its total PG seat count to 322.
With this increase, the college has claimed the highest number of PG seats among government and private medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh. It also offers 13 super-speciality seats.
The newly approved seats include 12 in Community Medicine, nine in Pathology, five in Orthopaedics, four in General Surgery, two in Anatomy, two in Forensic Medicine, two in Microbiology, two in Psychiatry, and one in Dermatology.
Medical Dialogues reported that the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) released an updated Seat Matrix for Postgraduate (PG) Broad Speciality Courses for the Academic Year 2026–27. According to the data shared by the Commission, a total of 68305 MD, MS, Diploma and MCh (6 year) seats in PG Broad Speciality courses are available.

The increase in PG seats is expected to provide more opportunities for MBBS graduates to pursue specialist training while strengthening the availability of doctors in different departments. More postgraduate doctors at the college and its attached hospitals could also support patient care, clinical services and surgical facilities.
The additional seats will contribute to academic activities, clinical training and medical research at the institution. The increased medical workforce, particularly in surgery and other specialist departments, could also help reduce waiting time for operations and dependence on other hospitals and more PG students will encourage academic activities and the use of modern treatment methods.
Commenting on the development, MGM Medical College Dean Dr Arvind Ghanghoria described the approval as a historic achievement reflecting the institution's academic progress and continuous efforts.
He told Free Press Journal that the real strength of a medical college lies not just in its buildings and facilities but in the skilled doctors it trains. He added that the college aims to provide quality medical education while improving healthcare services for the public.
