Indore: Bringing good news to the postgraduate medical aspirants in Madhya Pradesh, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has given its nod to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College to commence a super-speciality course in Neurology. The institute has received the NMC nod for four seats in DM Neurology.
Apart from this, the Apex Medical Education Regulatory body has also permitted increasing three postgraduate medical seats in the Ophthalmology Department. Due to this, MGM Indore now has altogether 10 PG Ophthalmology seats.
Granting permission for both of these courses for the academic session 2024-2025, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC has issued a letter of permission to the Dean of the MGM Medical College.

The college has set up the newly permitted Department of Neurology in the Super Speciality Hospital. Meanwhile, as per the latest media report by Free Press Journal, the Commission has also given its permission to the medical college to renew the 250 MBBS seats. Confirming this, the Dean of the Institute Dr. Sanjay Dixit informed FPJ, "We have received a letter of permission from the NMC based on the report submitted by the assessor, who inspected the college, a few days ago. The apex regulatory body has asked us to submit the required documents including the details of the faculty members, staff, and equipment along with other details."
Dr. Dixit pointed out that MGM Medical College is the only medical college in Central India having more PG medical seats than UG medical seats. As per the Daily, there are 250 UG and 279 PG seats available at MGM Indore. Further, the college also has 10 super speciality seats.
The college administration is expecting a further increase in the PG seats in some more specialities. Meanwhile, inspection is pending for retaining the seats in some departments.
