SC to hear Plea Seeking Special Stray Vacancy round of NEET PG Counselling
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear a plea seeking a Special Stray Round of Counselling for the available vacant seats after the conduction of All India Quota Stray Vacancy round of NEET PG 2021.
Listed before the vacation bench of the top court bench comprising of Justices MR Shah and Aniruddha Bose, the plea has also sought for a direction upon the Medical Counselling Committee for providing the exact number of vacant seats after the completion of AIQ Stray Vacancy Round, adds Live Law.
Adjourning the plea for further hearing on June 8, the top court bench has directed the counsel for serving an advance copy of the petition to the ASG Aishwarya Bhati and the Central Agency.
"Let the advance copy of the petition be served on Ms. Aishwarya Bhati, learned Additional Solicitor General who may get instructions in the matter. The petitioner may serve one advance copy of the petition in the Central Agency also. Put up on 08.06.2022," read the order.

As per the latest media report by Live Law, the candidates who appeared in NEET-PG 2021 exam and took part in both the rounds (Round 1 and Round 2) of the AIQ Counselling and State Quota Counselling along with the Mop-up and rounds have made the appeal before the Supreme Court as they have contended that an additional round of counselling is necessary for avoiding wastage of seats.
Referring to the fact that exams such as INICET and NEET SS also conduct an additional round of counselling, the plea by doctors mentioned, "Occupying remaining seats (on the basis of merit) works in the interest of both the college as well as candidates. While the college would refrain in incurring heavy losses in each vacant seat, the candidates will also lose a seat, which they are otherwise deserving of."
