Soon: UP Announces 1,300 new MBBS Seats, 13 medical colleges from 2023-2024
New Delhi: In a major boost to undergraduate medical education in the state, another 1,300 new MBBS seats are going to be added to the seat matrix of Uttar Pradesh.
The confirmation in this regard has come from the Department of Medical Education of the State and the Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak. Sharing the news regarding this development, Minister Pathak Tweeted, "1300 MBBS seats will be increased in government medical colleges of UP , there will be a big change in the medical education sector. 13 new medical colleges will be started from the new session 2023-24. Health systems will be better in the state, as well as the education and career of the youth will get a new flight."
Medical Education Department of the State also shared a confirmation in this regard and stated in a Tweet that the "Health systems will also be improved in the state ensuring a new flight to medical education and career."
DME has informed that after the addition of these new MBBS seats the total number of UG medical seats in the State will go from 3828 to 5128. "Principals have been appointed for 13 new medical colleges The state can now access better education and facilities in the health sector," the Tweet further added.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that according to the data shared by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), there are a total number of 1,00,163 MBBS and 65,335 PG medical seats available in India in over 655 medical colleges. Among these, the data revealed that Uttar Pradesh has a total number of 9203 MBBS and 3795 PG medical seats.
