3 arrested as STF foils alleged murder conspiracy against Kurukshetra doctor

Arrested
Karnal: In connection with an alleged conspiracy to murder a Kurukshetra-based doctor, the Special Task Force (STF) in Karnal has foiled the plan and arrested three suspected gang members involved in the case.
According to police, the operation began with the arrest of one suspect from Ludhiana, following which two automatic firearms and 25 live cartridges were recovered from his possession. His detention led to the arrest of two more suspects and exposed details of the gang’s alleged criminal activities.

Giving details, Inspector Deepender Rana, in charge of the Karnal STF, said Shubham had allegedly been tasked with carrying out the murder of a doctor in Kurukshetra. Acting on intelligence inputs, the STF arrested him last week before the planned crime could be executed. He was produced before a court and remanded in police custody for four days, reports The Tribune.
During questioning, the accused reportedly disclosed the involvement of two associates who are also residents of Ludhiana district. Acting on this information, STF teams arrested the duo in Punjab on Monday. Both were later remanded to police custody for further investigation.
Investigators said the arrested individuals are linked to the Kala Rana gang, which is suspected of involvement in extortion and violent criminal activities across parts of Punjab and Haryana.
Police further stated that the gang has allegedly been involved in multiple extortion-related firing incidents in cities including Mohali, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, and Phagwara. Victims who reportedly refused to pay extortion demands were allegedly targeted to intimidate and exert pressure.
Speaking to Amar Ujala, STF Inspector Deependra Rana stated that the three accused were taken on remand and thoroughly interrogated, which yielded significant information. Following the completion of their remand period, the accused were produced in court on Wednesday and sent to judicial custody. Police are now conducting raids to find other gang members and are continuing the investigation to uncover the entire network.
