Abduction attempt on Cardiologist in Hisar, IMA sees red, demands action
Chandigarh: The recent attempt of kidnapping a Cardiologist in Hisar has shocked the medical fraternity in Haryana, where only few days back a Gynaecologist was shot dead at her residence by miscreants.
Two among the three miscreants who tried to abduct Hisar-based heart specialist Dr. Ravindra Gupta, who runs a hospital in the city, from his residence have been arrested by Police.
While Indian Medical Association (IMA) Hisar had called for a strike since yesterday, they have now withdrawn the agitation after arrest of the culprits.
Apart from this the doctors will meet the the Health Minister of Haryana, Anil Vij today at 2:30 PM, the president of IMA Hisar, Dr. J P Nalwa informed Medical Dialogues.
The incident happened on Monday morning at around 6:30 AM, when Dr. Ravindra Gupta, who runs Ravindra Hospital and Heart Centre near Jindal Chowk, Hisar, was attacked at his own residence.

As per Source's account to Medical Dialogues, the miscreants pressed the doorbell of Dr. Gupta's house and assaulted him when he came out of the house. They were reportedly trying to abduct the doctor when he started shouting and the family members came out to help him. Immediately, the miscreants fled the spot and the doctor was saved.
While the Police had started investigating the matter, doctors under IMA Hisar had called for a strike in the private hospitals since yesterday and they demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.
"The SP has come to the protest site and giving a press brief, the DSP informed that two among the three miscreants have been arrested. Police are suspecting that the accused had the motif of robbery," Dr Ajay Mahajan, the President Elect of IMA Haryana informed Medical Dialogues.
While commenting on the matter, the President of IMA Hisar, Dr. J P Nalwa said, "Since the culprits have been arrested we have decided to withdraw our agitation. Further we have a meeting with the State Health Minister this afternoon."
Only a few days back, four miscreants looted a Kurukshetra-based doctor on gunpoint and murdered his wife, who was a Gynaecologist by profession. Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the miscreants had entered the house of Dr Atul Arora, who somehow escaped and tried to get help from the neighbours. Unfortunately, by the time they reached the house again the miscreants had already murdered Dr. Vineeta Arora after looting jewellery and money from the house.
Acting immediately, the Special Investigations Team arrested five accused in connection with the case after a brief exchange of fire.
