Bhopal based Doctor booked for seeking Rs 70000 under Ayushman Bharat Scheme by using forged records
Bhopal: A case has been registered against a Bhopal-based doctor by the Gautam Nagar police under charges of fraud for allegedly seeking an amount of Rs 70,000 by submitting forged treatment records of two patients under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme in June.
The police registered the case after a complaint was filed by the officials associated with the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, reports the Times of India. The doctor was allegedly caught before the payment was transferred.
The SHO Gautam Nagar Zaheer Khan stated that the accused doctor, identified as Dr. Sandeep Dubey is the director of a private hospital on Berasia Road. The complaint was filed by Dr. Padmakar Tripathi, general manager of Ayushman Card Scheme against the doctor's hospital, alleging that it showed records of two fake patients.
The complainant further stated that the forged documents observed that the patients, Jamuna Bai and Babli received treatment under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme and subsequently, sought reimbursement of Rs 70,000, reports the TOI.
The police are currently investigating to see if more such fraud payments were taken by the hospital in the past.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported a similar incident where a case of cheating was registered against the suspended deputy dean of Lokmanya Tilak Hospital, Rakesh Verma, and two others by the Sion police for allegedly cheating a medical student of around Rs 21 lakh from Kolhapur, after promising him a seat at the post-graduation course (MD) in Sion hospital. The police had booked Dr Rakesh Verma, Aditya Kumar alias Anand Sharma and Dheeraj Tiwari for cheating.
