Niwai: In a disturbing incident, an on-duty doctor at the Government sub-district hospital in Niwai, Rajasthan, was allegedly abused and assaulted by a patient's attendant, sustaining injuries that have raised serious concerns about the safety of healthcare workers.

Despite the severity of the assault, police have allegedly refused to file an FIR, with reports suggesting possible political pressure behind their inaction. The incident has sparked outrage among local doctors.

A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media, purportedly showing the attendant shouting at the doctor, claiming that he had come for his child’s treatment but was ignored.

Following the incident, doctors have launched a work boycott, refusing to provide services until the authorities register an FIR and ensure adequate protection for medical staff.

Sharing the incident on the social media platform 'X' (formerly Twitter), a doctor highlighted the frustration of healthcare professionals. Due to inaction, doctors have been forced to resort to a work boycott to demand a proper FIR and ensure safety for medical professionals, the doctor stated.

This incident is a stark reminder of the urgent need for stronger laws and protections for medical professionals. Tragically, this is not an isolated case.

Medical Dialogues had previously reported that in another shocking incident of violence against medical professionals, a Casualty Medical Officer, a resident doctor from the Medicine department, and an intern doctor of Dr R.N. Cooper Municipal General Hospital were allegedly assaulted inside the casualty ward while on duty by the relatives of a deceased patient.
